DESCRIPTION:FCDOA is organising a talk by journalist and author Wendy Moore \nwith the title \nThe Suffragette Surgeons \non 27th July 2021 at 11.00 am – 12.15 pm on ZOOM \n  \n\nJournalist and author Wendy Moore tells the story of the only military hospital under the auspices of the British Army to be run and staffed by women\, Endell Street Military Hospital\, which treated wounded men in the First World War. The hospital ‘manned by women’ was hailed a triumph by the press and described by its patients as the ‘best’ in London. Its doctors performed more than 7\,000 major operations and pioneered medical advances\, including ground-breaking approaches to rehabilitation and wound infection. \n  \nThe Bishop of London\, Sarah Mullally \, formerly England’s chief nursing officer and the NHS’s director of patient experience (1999-2004)\, has kindly agreed to moderate the talk. \n  \nTicket costs £10 \n
